Whitecastle Community Council represents over 1000 electors in its community area. The community is made up a number of villages and small rural settlements and covers over 27 square miles. The community area is divided into 6 wards which are listed below. Each ward has community representatives known as councillors. The list shows the number of councillors and the number of current vacancies.

 

Whitecastle (2 councillors, one vacancy)
Penrhos (2 councillors, one vacancy)
Llanvihangel-Ystern-Llewern (1 councillors, no vacancies)
Llangattock Vibon Avel,(1 councillor, one vacancy)
Newcastle (2 councillors, one vacancy)
Rockfield and St Maughans (3 councillors, two vacancies)

 

To be eligible to be a community councillor, you must be at least 18 years old, a British citizen, a Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of a European Union member state, or a qualifying foreign citizen. You also need to meet one of the following qualifications: be a registered local government elector in the community, have owned or occupied property in the community for at least 12 months, have worked in the community for at least 12 months, or have lived in the community for at least 12 months.

Community Councillors have an active interest and concern for their local community. They represent local people and work in partnership with them and others when necessary. They help facilitate the provision of local services and facilities and take decisions that form the policy of their Council. Being a community councillor is a great way to get involved in your community and is interesting and rewarding.
