Health Board Urges Residents to Check on Vulnerable Neighbours
Published: 19 November 2025
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is urging people in South Wales to check on vulnerable neighbours and relatives as temperatures are expected to drop sharply, bringing frost, ice, and possible wintry showers. Cold weather increases risks for older or frail individuals, including falls, respiratory problems, and winter viruses, as well as hypothermia for those without adequate heating. The Health Board advises ensuring vulnerable people are warm, have sufficient food, essential supplies, and medication, and suggests helping with shopping or prescriptions. Residents are encouraged to seek early treatment for minor illnesses, use the 111 service or Gwent Health Guide for advice, and get their flu and Covid-19 boosters.
