Community Litter-Picking Kits – Opportunity for Local Groups
Monmouthshire County Council is exploring a new initiative to support local communities to take quick action when litter becomes a problem. It has been suggested making small litter-picking kits available within villages and neighbourhoods, so residents can easily do a short litter pick if they notice an issue.
We would provide a limited number of community litter-picking kits, which would include:
To take part, a community would need to have a suitable, accessible place to store the kit, such as a redundant phone box, church porch, or similar shared space.
We are inviting community councils or other local community groups to express an interest in hosting a kit. The group would be asked to keep an eye on the equipment and let us know if items go missing or if supplies such as bags need to be replenished.
Funding is available for a limited number of kits during this financial year. If this opportunity would be of interest to your community, please contact the Clerk. whitecastlecommunitycouncil@gmail.com
