A public notice about an unsafe monument.

Whitecastle Community Council is responsible for the churchyard at St Michael's Church, Llanvihangel-ystern-llewern. Following a recent inspection one of the gravestones was found to be in an unsafe condition. The inscription on the gravestone says:
IN MEMORY OF
ABEL JAMES. YOUNGEST SON OF ARTHUR AND ELIZABETH ELLAWAY WHO DIED AT
GRANGE FARM PENRHOS. AUGUST 11 1906 AGED 45 YEARS.
ALSO OF ELIZABETH ELDEST DAUGHTER OF THE ABOVE WHO DIED AT GRANGE FARM FENRHOS. OCTOBER 17 1907 ACED 58 YEARS
If a grave is found to be unsafe, the Community Council has a duty to make reasonable efforts to contact any living descendants. They will be notified of the condition of the gravestone and asked to take appropriate action to make it safe. Where no descendants can be identified or contacted, the Council will take the necessary steps to secure the monument, which may include laying the gravestone flat to remove the risk. Please contact the council if you are able to help the council in finding any living descendants. This notice is valid until 31 March 2026.
