The Order
Monmouthshire County Council has issued a Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to allow BT Openreach works to be carried out safely on the R43 Llantilio Crossenny Village Thoroughfare in Llantilio Crossenny.
The temporary order will come into force on 9 March 2026 and may remain valid for up to 18 months, although the works are expected to be completed between 9 and 13 March 2026. During this period, road closures will operate daily between 09:30 and 15:30 and will be delivered in two phases.
Phase 1 (9–11 March 2026):
Temporary closure of the R43 from its junction with the B4233, extending approximately 375 metres.
Phase 2 (12–13 March 2026):
Temporary closure of the R43 from its junction with the R42 Llantilio Crossenny to Penrhos Farm, extending approximately 292 metres.
The Council confirms that the closures are necessary for safety reasons while the works are undertaken. Reasonable access will be maintained at all times for properties that front the affected sections of road.
A signed diversion route will be in place via the R42 Llantilio Crossenny and the B4233, operating in both directions.
The order is formally titled the R43 Llantilio Crossenny Village Thoroughfare, Llantilio Crossenny, Monmouthshire Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2026. Anyone who contravenes the restrictions imposed under this order may be committing an offence under Section 16(1) of the 1984 Act.
